During winter time it is important to keep your household running costs down just as much as you would in summer. For tips on keeping warm this winter we suggest a reverse cycle air conditioner. Looking at your control panel – change your operation to the sun dial (heating). Keeping it around 20-22 degrees will keep your home at a comfortable temperature. Keep in mind that each degree you increase… this will increase your running costs by around 10%.

In addition to heating your home, you can do the following to keep your home warmer for longer:

Where possible, close off areas which you are not using. You can do this by closing bedroom doors, bathroom doors and another other sections that will keep the heat central to the areas you are using.

Keep blinds and curtains open during the day (especially north facing) as sunlight will provide natural warming. Keep blinds and curtains closed during the evening as windows are the largest source of heat loss.

Use a timer – set it to come on an hour before you get out of bed. It is more efficient to turn it on earlier at 21 and slowly raise the temperature of your home, than try to heat the room quickly.

Adjust the louvers on your air conditioner so they face downwards for heating has hot air rises.

Ensure your filters are cleaned regularly to keep the air fresh and clean.

Keep the area around your outdoor unit clean and clear of debris. Blocking the air from moving freely around the outdoor unit puts an extra load on the unit, which could result in the unit breaking down.

Install draught-stoppers and seal your home’s leaks

Dress appropriately so that you don’t have to set your temperature higher than needed. After all putting on a jumper costs far less than heating your house.

Use ceiling fans at low speed or on winter setting (reverse) to circulate (push down) the warm air.

Speak to us today about how we can make your home so comfortable … you’ll never want to leave!

Have you ever wondered how much your Air Conditioner costs you to run? Do you worry about if it is driving up your electricity bills? RPM explains Inverter Technology and Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning and how it can save you money!

Saving on electricity bills starts with Inverter technology. An inverter in an Air Conditioner is used to control the speed of the compressor motor to drive variable refrigerant flow in an Air Conditioning system to regulate the conditioned-space temperature. By contrast, traditional Air Conditioners regulate temperature by using a compressor that is periodically either working at maximum capacity or switched off entirely. Inverter-equipped air conditioners have a variable-frequency drive that incorporates an adjustable electrical inverter to control the speed of the motor and thus the compressor and cooling output.

The variable-frequency drive uses a rectifier to convert the incoming alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) and then uses pulse-width modulation in an electrical inverter to produce AC of a desired frequency. The variable frequency AC drives a brushless motor or an induction motor. As the speed of an induction motor is proportional to the frequency of the AC, the compressor can now run at different speeds. A microcontroller can then sample the current ambient air temperature and adjust the speed of the compressor appropriately. The additional electronics and system hardware may add cost to the equipment installation but can result in substantial savings in operating costs in the long term.

What is a reverse cycle air conditioner and how does it work?

The principle of reverse cycle Air Conditioning is about a heat pump that works by transferring heat energy from one place to another to keep your room at a comfortable temperature.

Split system room Air Conditioners are made up of two separate units, one located inside the room and the other outside. They are joined by two insulated copper pipes which circulate a refrigerant. In cooling mode, warm air from the room is drawn into the indoor unit where heat is absorbed and removed. The air is recirculated back into the room providing cool, comfortable living even on the hottest summer day.

By a simple press of a button your heat pump runs in reverse to keep your room cosy and warm on winter days.

Reverse cycle room Air Conditioners uses Inverter technology, which allows for high power operation to cool or heat a room quickly to the desired set temperature. After reaching the set temperature, the operation is maintained at a low constant power.

Majority of Air Conditioners sold today have the inverter technology. At RPM Enterprises, we are here to help save you money on your future electricity bills! Speak to us today and we can discuss which brands can save you money in the long run!

At RPM Enterprises, our friendly and experienced Brisbane electricians are focused on making our Air Conditioning and Electrical services second to none. What are some good tips to ensure your Air Conditioning and Electrical specialist is the most suitable for your job? Read below for more information.

1. Ensure they are qualified professionals that are compliant with Queensland legislation.

Any Air Conditioning or Electrical specialist should be qualified and experienced to ensure a smooth installation and the safety of your home and family. A professional air conditioning specialist will consider various alternatives, and will always provide clear time-frames. If a Brisbane Electrician cannot answer your questions appropriately, it’s probably not a good sign.

Additionally, a qualified Electrician will be able to provide you with a range of air conditioners from reputable brands to choose from – and won’t simply recommend just one product.

2. Ensure they have relevant experience – you are in every right to demand previous examples of their work

As with any specialist in any field, a Brisbane electrician should be able to show you clear and recent examples of their work, and a lot of relevant experience in their field. They should have an available portfolio, and should seem confident whilst working in any commercial or residential environment.

3. Ensure they have a reputable website and that they are a professional company that you can contact if you have any concerns

If you have any problems, concerns or further questions, it’s always good to know that a professional Brisbane electrician will ensure you are left satisfied with your installation and that they can be easily contacted if required. This is why we recommend carrying out any electrical services through a reputable company that has been in the industry for several years.

4. Bonus points – if they provide a range of Electrical services so you are assured they have a range of specialties.

A company that provides a range of electrical services and doesn’t only focus on Air Conditioners might be a safe choice, as you can ensure their Brisbane electricians can carry out a range of jobs and have extensive experience in all electrical aspects. An “underground” and unregistered Electrician or Air Conditioner mechanic may not understand all the appropriate electrical requirements, and it can result in serious consequences.

Competition has been warming up between Australian air conditioner manufacturers recently, with temperatures competing with the hottest Brisbane summer day. There has probably never been a better time to install climate control equipment from Mitsubishi Electric or Fujitsu General than right now. We decided to dedicate this blog to the incentives available.

What air conditioner should I choose?

Purchase any qualifying Mitsubishi air conditioner from an authorised dealer while their offer lasts, and you can claim a bonus Eftpos card with between $60 and $200 preloaded on it according to the model that you choose. Just make sure you get a tax invoice confirming your purchase from RPM Enterprises who will also advise the serial number.

Not to be outdone, Fujitsu are offering their own “free money” on a prepaid Visa card and in this case the temptation could be even greater. Any of their inverter split systems comes with $200 cash back. Pay more and go for either an inverter multi- split or a complete ducted air conditioner system and Fujitsu will double up your cash. To claim, you’ll also need to know the serial number and be in possession of a tax invoice.

This makes for quite a choice for budget conscious Brisbane home owners. As specialist Air conditioning installers, RPM Enterprises doesn’t believe an air conditioner choice rests on the value of cash back offers alone. Your climate control kit could be around for decades longer than the time it takes you to cash in on the teaser. It’s far wiser to let an air conditioning specialist lead you to the right equipment choice instead. That way the money back is an added bonus.

Talk to us today so we can assist you in choosing the best product to suit your needs & requirements
